Bone Infection Maryland Dr. Conway
Dr. Conway and Steve smiling Steve is a professional pianist, so it was devastating when a paronychia nail infection worsened and endangered his joint and use of his finger. The physicians at another hospital were negative about his prognosis and warned that if his antibiotic-resistant infection did not clear, he might need the finger amputated. A friend then referred him to a hand surgeon in Rockville who referred him to Dr. Janet Conway.

Dr. Conway reassured him that his finger could be saved. She also plays piano, and focused on not only healing his infection, but also restoring use of his finger through splinting and physical therapy so he could get back to playing once healed. Steve and his wife shared that they found Dr. Conway’s bedside manner to be exceptional as she was a great listener who was extremely respectful and patient with their feelings and the healing process. They also shared that she gave them support, positivity, encouragement and most importantly, hope.

Steve is thrilled he could return to playing piano at weddings and other special events. To show their gratitude, Steve and his wife made a donation to support Dr. Conway’s orthopedic infection research. We are so grateful for their support and that Steve is back to doing what he loves.
